I have a friend who has introduced me to Goodwill shopping.
I LOVE it!
I knew it was out there, but I guess I was under the impression that most of the stuff from Goodwill wasn't very good stuff. BOY, was I wrong.
I went on a "half-price" Saturday that they have once a month and bought my daughter $26.00 worth of clothes that would've cost around $45-50 if I'd gone on a different day AND it would've cost even more if I'd gone to JCPenney or Kohl's. I like those stores and sometimes you can get great deals there...not knocking them at all...
But if you've got time and are looking for kids clothes or other clothes go give Goodwill a try. I think about what I give to Goodwill...usually it's stuff that still looks ok, it's just gotten too small. That's the way everybody else does too.
So that's where I'm headed this next week. :) My daughter needs some shorts and pants and so do I, so I'm going to go check it out. :)
When my kids were growing, they outgrew things before they even had a chance to look old or worn. We've always donated good quality stuff - so I would assume others do the same. I'm always glad someone gets use out of things!
ReplyDeleteIt's cyclical...I'll donate 5 or 6 bags every season and then I'll buy some things too. I think it all works pretty well. :)
ReplyDeleteI love thrift stores! It's fun to go and see what they have, it can be really surprising what you find. Salvation Army, Goodwill, I have several I go to from time to time and yes, sometimes I find some really great clothes for my kids.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Wendy! My 'professional' shopper friend found a couch and matching chair w/ottoman for 100.00. She took it home and put slip covers over them and they look wonderful in her house. I was impressed.
ReplyDeleteSo true. My fav is Salvation Army Family Store. Get all my lamps there - none over $4.99. I know where every vintage store in town is, too. Love the deals and retro clothes.
ReplyDeleteWow Perle..Lamps for 4.99..that is awesome. I'm not sure we have a Salvation Army store here. I need to research that. We have a Salvation Army in our town, but I don't think they sell anything there. More of a service place for people who need help with things. Thanks for stopping by! Love meeting all these new people. :)
